Which kit works with my system?

Kits are matched to the control module, not the vehicle. The part number is printed on the module fitted under your driver-side dash.

Compustar modules start with CM or FT. Fortin are EVO-ALL or EVO-ONE. iDatastart start with CM and end in a letter and number.

When a replacement fob doesn't exist

If your remote is lost or broken and there's no direct replacement, a kit is usually the answer. It replaces the remote and the antenna together, then pairs to the control module already fitted to your vehicle — so it isn't a full system replacement, and nothing under the dash has to change.

Kits are matched to the control module, not the car. Every other part of our site works by make and model; this one doesn't. The part number is printed on the module under your driver-side dash.

One-way or two-way? Two-way remotes report back from the vehicle, so you know the car actually started rather than guessing from across a parking lot. One-way only sends. Two-way costs more and it's the difference most people notice first.

Fitting a Fortin kit to an EVO-ALL?

You also need the RFA2A adapter — a separate $14.99 part. The EVO-ALL doesn't have the port these kits expect, and without it nothing works. It's the most commonly forgotten item in a Fortin install.

FAQ - Common questions

Do I need a kit, or just a fob?

If your fob is broken but a replacement is still made, buy the fob — it's cheaper and it pairs to your existing antenna. A kit is for when no fob exists any more, because it replaces both the remote and the antenna together.

How do I find my control module?

It's under the driver-side dash, usually zip-tied to the wiring behind the lower panel. The part number is printed on the case — CM7000, EVO-ALL, CMHCXG0 and so on. If you can't reach it, send us a photo of what you can see and we'll identify it.

Will this replace my whole remote starter?

No. The kit pairs to the control module already in your vehicle, so the wiring, the starter and everything under the dash stays. You're replacing the radio link, not the system.

My module is a CM3000. What are my options?

The CM3000, CM4000 and CM4200 are obsolete — the radio protocol changed and no current kit will pair with them. That means a new system rather than a new remote. Call us before spending anything; depending on the vehicle there may be a better answer than like-for-like.

Can I fit a kit myself?

The remotes pair without tools, but the antenna has to be mounted on the windscreen and the cable routed down the A-pillar to the module. Doable if you're comfortable removing trim. We fit them in Markham otherwise.
