This is LY-40192317 anti-rodent capsaicin tape. 20 metre (65.6 foot) roll.

Rodents chew wiring, and modern vehicles make it worse because much automotive insulation is now soy-based and smells like food. The repair bills are substantial, and the fault is often intermittent and miserable to trace.

This tape has capsaicin encapsulated in the backing — the compound that makes chilli hot. Rodents taste it once and leave the loom alone. Unlike sprays it doesn't wash off or need reapplying every few months.

Where to use it

Wiring harnesses, EVAP hoses, fuel lines and any exposed cable run. It applies like ordinary electrical tape and conforms to shapes.

Keep it away from direct exhaust heat.

How to apply

  1. Clean the surface of oil, dirt and loose insulation
  2. Wrap with 50% overlap, stretching slightly for a snug fit
  3. Finish with a secure tail and press the edges down
  4. Check occasionally and re-wrap if it frays

Wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards. Capsaicin is an irritant, and you will regret rubbing your eyes.

So far so good. Seems to be doing the job. Ordering more to do the remaining uncovered wires.
