Understanding the Fortin lineup
The naming trips people up. Here's what's actually different between them.
EVO-ALL — $109.99. An interface module, not a remote starter. It handles immobilizer bypass, door locks and CAN-bus integration, and adds low-power remote start on some vehicles. This is what you buy when you already have a remote starter or alarm and need it to talk to the car.
EVO-ONE — $189.99. A full remote starter with the bypass built in. One module does the whole job, and it's behind a large share of the installs we do.
EVO-X-ONE. The current generation, with broader coverage on newer vehicles. Needs an R-LINK 2 or R-LINK 3 to program.
EVO-START LTE — $289.99. Adds smartphone control and GPS tracking to an EVO system. Three years of service included on the Canadian version, and GPS from day one rather than behind a higher tier. Note that Canadian units work in Canada only.
Where Fortin is strongest
Coverage breadth. A single EVO module, flashed with the right firmware, covers an enormous range of vehicles rather than needing a different part per platform. Their European coverage is the best of the three brands we carry — Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche solutions the others simply don't have.
The EVO-START LTE is also the only smartphone controller we sell that includes GPS tracking in its base plan and bills renewals in Canadian dollars.
Where it costs you more
Two things worth knowing before you commit.
Solutions marked ⭕ DECRYPTOR need a Fortin FLASHLINK to finish the install. It exists for a good reason — it means you don't sacrifice a key, which on a modern vehicle saves several hundred dollars — but it's a tool you have to own if you're installing yourself.
The EVO-X-ONE platform needs an R-LINK 2 or R-LINK 3, sold separately at $149.99. Don't confuse those with the original R-LINK at $59.99, which is a different tool for Volkswagen and Audi key programming on standard EVO modules. On a one-off install the R-LINK 2 or 3 is real money on top of the module, so factor it in or have us do the job.
For most customers neither tool is needed. We pre-program modules before they ship on most vehicles, so the part arrives ready to install.
