Understanding the iDatastart lineup
The part numbers look like alphabet soup until you know the pattern. Here it is.
CM and HCX control modules are the brains. The current generation is the CMHCXG0, which added support for the high-speed CAN-FD networks many 2023 and newer vehicles use. The CMBMXA0 is the specialist module for BMW, MINI and Mercedes-Benz.
HC-series remote starters like the HC1151G and HC2352G are complete systems that include the module and a key fob kit together.
ADS-THR T-harnesses are the vehicle-specific part. The suffix tells you the platform — HA for Honda and Acura, TL for Toyota and Lexus, GM for General Motors, CH for Chrysler group, NI for Nissan and Infiniti. Your vehicle's page tells you which one you need.
RF key fob kits add a dedicated remote where you want more range than a factory fob gives, or where your vehicle can't do 3xLock at all.
Where iDatastart is strongest
Vehicle coverage on North American and Asian makes is the broadest we work with, and the T-harness range is the largest of any brand we stock. If a plug-and-play harness exists for your vehicle at all, there's a good chance it's an ADS-THR.
The data integration is also the cleanest. Because iDatalink have been decoding vehicle networks for their Maestro radio products for twenty years, their modules tend to read things other brands can't — fuel level, tire pressure, check engine codes — and pass them through to your smartphone controller.
About KLON, and why it's a good thing
More iDatastart solutions carry the ⭕ flag than any other brand we sell. That looks like a downside on the product page. It isn't.
KLON is a two-stage programming process that builds firmware unique to your vehicle using one of your existing keys. The result is no key sacrifice, no replacement keys, no dealer visit. On a modern vehicle where a spare key runs several hundred dollars, that's the difference between a remote starter that costs what it says and one that quietly costs $400 more.
The catch is the tool. Completing a KLON job needs an ADS-USB Weblink Updater, and there is no alternative method. We stock three versions: the standard ADS-USB, the lower-cost ADS-USB-ECO at $34.99, and the ADS-USB-HUB with a built-in key reader and Mac support.
For most customers this never comes up. We pre-program modules before they ship on most vehicles, so the part arrives ready to install. You only need a tool if you're doing the KLON stage yourself.
