Need help choosing a remote starter?

What year is your vehicle?

Is your vehicle key start or key card?

Key Start

Automatic Transmission Only

DECRYPTOR Required!

Mandatory
This vehicle requires DECRYPTOR

DECRYPTOR is a Fortin programming procedure that eliminates the need to sacrifice an expensive key or key-fob for your vehicle, when installing a remote starter.

DECRYPTOR requires (MANDATORY) the use of the Fortin FLASHLINK Updater tool. You must use this tool, there is NO OTHER way to complete the DECRYPTOR programming procedure.

Key Fob Kit Required!

Why are key fobs mandatory?

This vehicle does not support 3xlock start, it is because the OEM key fob (original key fob) goes dead (stops working) when the vehicle ignition is on (such as when the engine is running). This means, that if you were to use 3xlock start, you would have no way to open the doors (keyless entry) while the engine was running, as the OEM key fob goes dead. Hence, the requirement for the aftermarket key fob.

This is not a big deal though, as in most cases where 3xlock start is not supported, you can leave the OEM key fob at home, and simply switch over to using the aftermarket key fob for all functions (such as lock/unlock/trunk release/remote start & stop. Also, you will gain increased range by using the aftermarket key fob.

Key Sacrifice Required!

Mandatory
This vehicle requires KEY SACRIFICE LOSE A KEY

If your vehicle requires a key sacrifice in order to install a remote starter, here is a brief explanation as to why this is.

Vehicles newer than 1998 generally have an immobilizer key or key fob, meaning there is an RFID chip in the head of the key or key fob, which when within close proximity to the vehicle or vehicle key cylinder, will send a signal to the vehicle letting the vehicle know the key or key fob is authorized to start the car. No signal, or wrong signal received means the car will not start.

Many vehicles use an encrypted signal, meaning it is almost impossible to break the code of the key, so the only way to start the car is to have the key present IN the car. Many newer Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar etc. vehicles are like this.

If you wish to install a remote starter in a vehicle with an encrypted key, and a keyless bypass module or interface does not exist, then you MUST sacrifice a key to install a remote start.

SACRIFICE A KEY MEANS YOU LOSE THE KEY, IT STAYS IN THE VEHICLE AND IS INSTALLED WITH THE REMOTE STARTER IN THE VEHICLE.
